A unique Vintage SpyderTM replica ready for summer cruisin'

This charming 2002 reproduction of what is possibly the most famous race car of all time is both streetworthy and eye-catching. This particular specimen is notably one of the finest and most well-crafted replicas of the famous Porsche Spyder which debuted at the Paris Auto Show in 1953.
Inspired by both Porsche's own 356 model and contemporary spyder prototypes, the Porsche 550 is probably best known for being the car in which actor James Dean ultimately met his end. With its vestigal windshield and mid-engine design, the 550 was slung so low to the ground that former Formula 1 racer Hans Herrmann once drove one under closed railroad crossing gates during the 1954 Mille Miglia!
Eric spends his free time at area ice rinks supporting his daughter, an aspiring figure skater.
Good things come to those who wait

The long-time owner of this 964 Carrera 4 spent many years thinking about doing custom upgrades to his car. When he finally started the process, in addition to a 3.6 Liter-to-3.8 Liter Mahle Motorsports conversion for the motor and a new suspension, he requested powder coating for both the intake and the fan to display the custom-built upgrades. Now this much-loved 1989 911 is better than new.
The Porsche 944, an incredible racing car at a reasonable cost

This car started life as a daily cruiser and remained that way until it ended up in a ditch while avoiding a deer. The insurer pronounced it totaled so Steinel’s purchased the car knowing it would make a great racecar.
Its second incarnation was as a DE car until its new owner got the racing bug, so it was converted into a full race vehicle and competed in PCA and NASA until 2007.
Sold once more the current owner\racer had Steinel’s convert it from a 944 Turbo into a 944 S2 sixteen-valve. Recently, it won a NASA Regional Championship and the driver hopes to continue his “winning ways” this season.
Monster 912, restoration plus enhancements make it better than new

Older 911s are excellent candidates for restoration, but so are 912s...the 4-cylinder variant. This particular car began life as a 912 but underwent a Steinel's conversion to 911 spec incuding an engine transplant and complete rebuild while its body was being fully restored by Bill Kemper. Truly, the car today is better than new!
Steinel’s has been collaborating with Kemper at Panelwerks in Mentor, Ohio for many years, coordinating for full body and mechanical refurbishment for all Porsche models.

An Engine Ahead of its Time

This cutting edge, air-cooled engine design was used by Porsche for almost four decades. These motors are a favorite here at Steinel’s where we have been reconditioning and updating them since our inception in 1985. It’s truly one of the best motor designs ever; a true classic from the 2.0 to the 3.8 litres with performance and smoothness...and it is beautiful to look at!
